Keep the route clear
Clear hallways and stairs, secure loose rugs and keep boxes out of the loading route. Let the crew know about low doorways, awkward turns and anything fragile nearby. If parking needs arranging, speak to the relevant property manager or authority in advance and share the confirmed arrangements.
Keep one bag with you
Keys, medication, identification, bank cards, paperwork and essential chargers should stay with you. Include a change of clothes and anything children or pets need for the day. Do not pack your only copy of the delivery address or the contact number for the person releasing the keys.
Make the destination easy to understand
Label rooms or share a simple floor plan so boxes and furniture can be placed sensibly. Tell the crew about items that must be unloaded first. Avoid changing the destination of a large piece after it has been carried upstairs if you can make the decision beforehand.
Expect communication, not guesswork
Keep your phone charged and update the team if key release or access changes. Ask what the agreed arrangements are for waiting time and delays. If something feels unclear, raise it before loading begins; a short conversation is better than discovering an assumption at the end of the day.
